چکیده

Polarographie reduction of adenine and cytosine moieties in denatured DNA was followed by means of differential (derivative) pulse polarography. The measurements of the reduction currents yielded by samples of denatured DNA differing in guanine+cytosine (G + C) content showed that both cytosine and adenine residues were reduced in DNA in the pH range of 6.0 —8.7. The con tribution of their reduction to the total reduction current of denatured DNA differs in the range pH 6.0 —8.7, however; the contribution of the current of adenine residues to the current of DNA decreases with increasing pH as compared with the contribution of cytosine residues. It was also shown that in the region of neutral pH reduction current of denatured DNA is independent of the G + C content in DNA.

Hydration energy of Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine and Thymine : Monte Carlo simulation

The hydration of biomolecules is vitally important in molecular biology, so in this paper thesolvation energy and radial distribution function of DNA bases have been calculated by theMonte Carlo simulation. The geometries of isolated Adenine, Guanine, Cytosine, and Thyminehave been optimized using 6-31+G(d,p) basis function sets. These geometries then will be used inthe Monte Carlo calculation o...

Cyclic voltammetry of DNA at a mercury electrode: an anodic peak specific for guanine.

Synthetic homopolyribonucleotides poly(A), poly(U), poly(C), and poly(G), poly(A, G, U), apurinic acid and native and denatured DNA from calf thymus were analyzed by means of cyclic voltammetry (CV) using a hanging mercury drop electrode. It was shown that guanine containing polynucleotides, i.e. poly(G), poly(A, G, U) and DNA yield an anodic peak of guanine in the vicinity of a potential of -0...

REASSOCIATION AND REACTIVATION OF GLUCOSE 6-PHOSPHATE DEHYDROGENASE FROM STREPTOMYCES AUREOFACIENS AFTER DENATURATION BY 6 M UREA

Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) from Streptomyces aureofaciens was purified and denatured in 6 M urea. Denaturation led to complete dissociation of the enzyme into its inactive monomers, 98% loss of the enzyme activity, about 30% decrease in the protein fluorescence and a 10 nm red shift in the emission maximum. Dilution of urea-denatured enzyme resulted in regaining of the enzyme acti...

Electrochemical oxidation-reduction paths for pyrimidine, cytosine, purine and adenine Correlation and application.

In order to evaluate the striking discrepancy between the experimental ease of polarographic reduction of adenine and cytosine, and that predicted by molecular orbital calculation, the electrochemical oxidation-reduction behaviour of pyrimidine, cytosine, purine, adenine and related compounds was investigated at both mercury and graphite electrodes. Information was obtained on the specific adso...

An ab initio quantum chemical investigation of TOMS nmr SHIELDING TENSORS IN Adenine-thymine, Adenine-uracil, Guanine-Cytosine & uracil-quartet: comparison between theoretical and experimental results

We have evaluated the NMR shielding tensors for A:T,G:C,A:U in Watson-crick, and U-quartet. We have computed NMR shielding tensors at B31YP level by using 6-31G(d) basis set. We have compute anisotropy and asymmetry in A:T,G:C,A:U and U-quartet. The NMR shielding tensors were calculated using the GIAO method. The natural bonding orbital analysis (NBO) were performed. NBO calculation have been ...
